Larry Taunton

Larry TauntonLarry Alex Taunton is founder and Executive Director of the Fixed Point Foundation, a Christian non-profit dedicated to exploring those ideas that shape culture.  In that role, Mr. Taunton has engaged and debated some of the world's most prominent intellectuals, from Christopher Hitchens and Richard Dawkins to Dinesh D'Souza and Peter Kreeft.  His book, The Grace Effect (Thomas Nelson Publishers, 2011), chronicles some of these experiences and offers a glimpse into what the world would look like without Christian influence.  Possessing degrees in history from Samford University (BA) and the University of Alabama (MA), Mr. Taunton specializes in addressing issues of faith and culture.  An occasional columnist, his articles have been featured in USA Today and CNN.com.  He has been quoted by Rush Limbaugh, Time, The Chicago Tribune, The New York Times, Vanity Fair and many others.  He has appeared on CNN, Fox News, NPR, BBC and, on the lighter side, the locally popular "Rick and Bubba Show."  In 2011, Mr. Taunton and his team produced a Super Bowl commercial featuring John 3:16.  Hailed by The New York Times as "slick" and The Orlando News Sentinel as one of the best Super Bowl commercials of 2011, the initiative created a national stir and paved the way for other organizations to produce ads with similarly wholesome themes.  Mr. Taunton lives in Birmingham, Alabama with his wife, Lauri.  They are blessed with four wonderful children.
