Bob Smietana of Religious News Service recently spent some time looking at yet another English translation of the Bible, called "The Voice." The Voice - translated from the word "logos" that has played an important role in Christian theology and is used in the opening of the Gospel of John - seeks to update the format and language of the Bible, focusing on the conversational aspects of Jesus' ministry and demystifying titular words like "Christ" and "Apostle."

But is another English translation of the Bible really helpful? In an age where you can walk into a bookstore and find dozens of different translations, tailored for dozens of different audiences, and complete with study notes for even more subcategories (soldiers, teens, academics, parents, students, politicians, minor celebrities, etc., etc., etc.), what is the value of another translation?
