"The Most Important Decision of My Life"?

A couple of days ago, I saw a television commercial for Bosley Hair Restoration, a product that purports to do what the name suggests.  As is often the case with such commercials, it was heavy on personal testimonies.  You know, the "before" and "after" photos and users declaring their love for the product?  One man said that using Bosley Hair Restoration was one of the most important decisions of his life.  Admittedly, his "before" photo was, well, not good.  But one of the most important decisions of his life?  Not his decision regarding eternal questions?  Not his decision to/not to marry?  Not his career choice?  Wow.  Have we stooped so low as a culture that marketing surveys suggested that such a remark would resonate with viewers rather than seem silly and shallow?  That we are a culture obsessed with appearance, there is no doubt.  But it is worse than I thought.
